I’ll support Governor Kefas to surpass my records in Taraba – Nyame

Former Governor of Taraba State, Jolly Nyame, on Friday pledged to support governor Agbu Kefas, to surpass his achievements while serving as a governor.

Nyame was the first civilian governor of the state, he served for two terms from 1999-2007.

Nyame said one of the secrets of his success as governor was his openness, humility and the support he got from the people of the state.

He said it is based on these reasons that he is extending the same support to Kefas.

Nyame spoke to DAYLIGHTREPORTERS in a telephone chat, to make clarification on his true political position.

“A lot of people have asked me severally, whether I am still in the PDP, I told them that I have never left PDP, I am one of those that brought PDP to Taraba and Taraba State has always been a strong PDP state from day one, at a point I left PDP to use the platform of ACN to contest senatorial election due to some misunderstanding with my successor. As I am talking to you, I still have my PDP membership card.

“Let it be known my journey in politics has been by the grace and mercy of God. My style of politics is a system that works for everyone irrespective of tribe, party or religion.

“I cannot write the story of my life without mentioning PDP, why are people giving themselves sleepless nights over my political position? They should please wait when I am contesting any election, they will know my party.

“As a former governor and now an elder statesman, if anyone in the state or in the country solicits for my advice, I will do that with all humility irrespective of his or her political affiliation.

“Governance is not about party, party is just a platform. The governor is doing well and as a sitting governor he deserves my respect and encouragement and it as nothing to do with politics

“Take my words, I will give him all the support he needs to see that he surpasses my achievements. He needs our support to achieve his vision.
