Paris Saint-Germain head coach Luis Enrique says football can be so “unfair” after his side were dumped out of the Champions League semi-final by Borussia Dortmund.
The German side won 1-0 at the Parc des Princes in the second leg and 2-0 on aggregate.
PSG had a catalogue of chances in the return fixture and hit the woodwork five times without scoring.
Mats Hummels scored the only goal of the night, heading in from a corner.
Kylian Mbappe could not find the net despite his best efforts and the French champions were ultimately undone by an organised Dortmund side under Edin Terzic.
Speaking to TNT Sports after the match, Enrique said: “When the result is that, yes it’s difficult of course.
“A tight match, but to be honest I think we have to win the match. We created 31 shots, four [times hitting the woodwork] – football is so unfair sometimes.
“Football is 𝐬𝐨 𝐮𝐧𝐟𝐚𝐢𝐫 sometimes…” 😢

“Congratulations to them. They are a great team and I hope they can go to the final and win it.
“That is our job to try to create something and it is a sad moment.
“We need to create something that is special and next year we will try to win the competition.”
No team hit the woodwork more than PSG’s 14 times during the entire Champions League campaign but Dortmund legend Marco Reus says his side earned their place in the final and it was not just down to luck.
He said: “Indescribable. After more than 10 years, I am in the final with Borussia again. Ousmane [Dembele] and Achraf [Hakimi] brought a tremendous amount of pace and we suffered a lot.
“How we won the game, no-one will ask tomorrow. Shots against the post won’t matter tomorrow.
“What counts is that Borussia Dortmund are in the final again. Nobody expected this. It’s just incredible.”
Terzic – a boyhood Dortmund fan – echoed Reus’ words and expressed how proud he was of his players.

The famous Bundesliga club are returning to the final for the first time since 2013, where they lost to Bayern Munich at Wembley.
They will now have the chance to redeem themselves in the same stadium and could face their old foes should they overcome Real Madrid tomorrow night.
Terzic added: “Proud if I have to find one word. It is a very proud moment for us.
“The dream is not over yet.
“I think we suffered a lot, but we showed a very good away game against a team that is so powerful up front, quick and mobile.
“We won both games in the semi-final. This is unbelievable, it was an outstanding performance.
“In the first half they had been the better team in terms of dominance, but we had the biggest chance with Karim Adeyemi and it was a crucial moment for us to keep the belief high.”
