Princess Beatrice apparently bears a striking resemblance to famous royal Queen Victoria, and even starred in the film The Young Victoria which was made about her early life.

The 35-year-old is the great-great-great-great granddaughter of the monarch, who sat on the throne for 64 years and was the country's longest-reigning ruler until Queen Elizabeth overtook her, reaching her Platinum Jubilee in 2022.

Back in 2009 Beatrice was an extra in the film starring Emily Blunt in the title role, appearing as a lady-in-waiting at Victoria's coronation in 1838.

A strong similarity was spotted in particular between the image of Beatrice as an extra and a portrait of Queen Victoria by Alexander Melville from 1845.

In the film, Prince Andrew and Fergie's eldest daughter wore an off-the-shoulder ball gown, while her hair had a centre parting and was arranged in a style typical for the time.

Interestingly Beatrice's younger sister Princess Eugenie is named after Victoria, as her full name is Eugenie Victoria Helena, while Beatrice's middle names are Elizabeth Mary.

In 2019 Eugenie shared an Instagram post celebrating 200 years since the birth of Queen Victoria, writing: "Today marks the 200th Anniversary of the birth of Queen Victoria (1819-1901). She reigned for almost 64 years and I'm very proud to be named after her.

"The first image is a portrait of Queen Victoria by Franz Xaver Winterhalter (1805-1873) @royalcollectiontrust. The second is of Emily Blunt and Rupert Friend, who played Victoria and Albert in The Young Victoria (2009) - a film produced by @sarahferguson15."

Plenty of fans in the comments acknowledged how much Beatrice and Victoria looked alike, with one saying: "Princess Beatrice looks a lot like Queen Victoria."

Another added: "Your lovely sister resembles her so much", while a third wrote: 'Your sister, Princess Beatrice, looks very similar to Her Majesty Queen Victoria. Especially when Bea does side view."

Beatrice is currently ninth in line to the throne, despite not being a working royal. She has a daughter, Sienna Elizabeth, born September 2021 with her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi.

Sisters Beatrice and Eugenie are known to be extremely close to their mum, Sarah Ferguson, who also produced the film The Young Victoria.

Fergie revealed that the trio have a sweet nickname for each other, telling HELLO! magazine: "They [Beatrice and Eugenie] support me through thick and thin, not least my recent illness.

"We call each other 'The Tripod' because we prop each other up, come what may."

The Duchess of York was recently diagnosed with malignant melanoma, just months after undergoing a mastectomy following a breast cancer diagnosis.
