The ongoing recall process against Hon. Ngozi Okolie, the member representing Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, has gained further momentum following damning revelations from his advisors.

In a statement by Mr. Osita Biose, one of Hon. Okolie’s advisors, he admitted that Okolie lacks the experience and competence to navigate “the intricacies of legislative politics.” This acknowledgment has further validated calls by the Concerned Citizens of Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency for his removal from office.

Mr. Biose’s comments came after a similar release by Mr. Isaac Okoh, Chairman of Hon. Okolie’s think tank team, who confessed to the lawmaker’s inability to attract or execute meaningful projects for the constituency in the past two years. Okoh’s admission highlighted Okolie’s disconnect from his constituents and failure to deliver on his electoral promises.

Concerned Citizens of Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency in a statement issued and signed by Dr. Tony Curtis, Chairman, and Austin Madu, Secretary, drew attention to Biose’s admission, which described Okolie as having no skills in lawmaking and unable to build essential relationships for effective representation. They criticized his apparent disdain for direct engagement with constituents, which has resulted in a lack of town hall meetings and functional constituency offices.

“Hon. Okolie has distanced himself from the people he represents. His failure to consult directly with the electorate and his reliance on an indirect system of representation show his disregard for the principles of democracy,” the group stated.

The citizens further alleged that none of the project proposals submitted by communities in the constituency made it into the federal budget due to Okolie’s gross incompetence. Instead, his Press Unit has been accused of making unsubstantiated claims and taking credit for projects initiated by other entities.

The group also cited troubling allegations about Hon. Okolie’s character, including whispers of him being bailed from police custody on several occasions and allegations linking him to a gambling center in Port Harcourt.

“Hon. Okolie has yet to refute these allegations or give an account of how funds allocated for constituency projects have been spent. His silence only strengthens our resolve to proceed with the recall process,” the statement continued.

Highlighting the admissions from Biose and Okoh, the group described Okolie’s representation as a “monumental leadership failure and legislative disappointment.”

The Concerned Citizens reaffirmed their commitment to the recall process, stating that they had begun gathering signatures and were determined to hold Okolie accountable.

“We have made up our minds on the recall. No amount of threats, blackmail, or phony entreaties will deter us. Hon. Okolie should prepare to account for all constituency funds released since he assumed office,” they concluded.
