Alan Carr has recalled how he was “kidnapped” by the cast of Queer Eye after going to watch Adele in Las Vegas.

The comedian said that he went to see the Someone Like You singer with his friend and fellow TV star Angellica Bell during her Caesars Palace residency in May. When the 48-year-old went backstage, he ran into the stars of the hit Netflix show, including hairdresser Jonathan van Ness.

Speaking as a guest on Alan’s ‘Life a Beach’ podcast, Jonathan said that he and Alan instantly fell “madly in love”. Alan explained on his podcast: “I go to see Adele with my friend Angellica and we go backstage waiting to go to our seats.

“You and the Queer Eye guys are there and we screamed, then you basically kidnapped us. We fell in love.”

Jonathan said that he and Alan then hung out the day after the concert, after “kidnapping” the comedian from his busy schedule. Alan recalled of the fun night: “You invited me and Angelica to it.

“You kidnapped us, it was this gay mini bus with fluorescent lights, and then we went to a club called Parano and danced harder than we ever danced in our lives. Me and Angelica said we peaked.

“We said we could have just gone home after meeting you and seeing Adele because there was no way we could recreate that magic. Isn’t that sweet?”

Jonathan, 37, said his night with Alan was “special” and described seeing Adele as a “religious experience”. He gushed: “Amazing isn’t strong enough, I laughed, I cried, I felt every feeling I ever needed to feel.”

The hair guru followed up seeing the Hello singer in Vegas by watching Taylor Swift perform at Wembley in June. Celebrity fans and friends, including the Prince of Wales and his children, Bridgerton star Nicola Coughlan, and model Cara Delevingne, joined Swift’s boyfriend, the NFL star Travis Kelce, his brother Jason and their parents, as well as her parents Andrea and Scott Swift, as she performed for almost 90,000 people at Wembley Stadium.

The Fab Five, including lifestyle coach Karamo Brown, food and wine guru Antoni Porowski, fashion consultant Tan France and interior design expert Bobby Berk, won their eleventh Emmy award in January for best structured reality programme. Queer Eye is back on Netflix for its eighth season but it will be the last to feature Bobby.

The 42-year-old clarified that his departure had nothing to do with a dispute between himself and Tan. “Queer Eye has been the most amazing gift that I couldn’t have ever imagined,” Berk said.

“It’s been a life-changing moment. I’m leaving something that is a huge part of my life. Even though it’s my decision, it still wasn’t an easy one.”

Jeremiah Brent will replace Bobby in the ninth season of Queer Eye which, Netflix has announced, will be set in Las Vegas. Filming for the upcoming season reportedly began earlier this year.
