V.P. picks for both the Republican and a replacement Democratic ticket in 2024 could be Scarlet and Gray and Red and Blue buckeyes.

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- The buckeye state’s two U.S. Senators, J.D. Vance and Sherrod Brown are now both being mentioned as candidates for the Republican and a replacement Democratic Presidential ticket.

Senator Vance has long been reported to be one of the top three finalists to be Donald Trump’s running mate, some are now even saying he’s one of the final two contenders.

Trump announcing his pick has been preempted by President Biden’s debate debacle and new debate among Democrats about replacing Biden as the nominee due to his perceived infirmities.

Two-time Pulitzer Prize winning New York Times Opinion Columnist Nicolas Kristof on social media named Sen. Brown as one of three possibilities for a new Democratic ticket along with Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer and Secretary Gina Raumondo.

Both Kristof and the New York Times Editorial Board have called for Biden to gracefully withdraw from the ticket as has fellow NYT Columnist and Pulitzer Prize winner Thomas Friedman. Kristof has since written a column nominating Governor Whitmer to top a new ticket.

Senator Brown is now in a tough reelection race against businessman Bernie Moreno who has been endorsed by both Senator J.D. Vance and Donald Trump.

It’s highly unlikely either the DNC or Senator Brown would want to forgo retaining an important U.S. Senate seat to be on a new presidential ticket.

Another Ohio issue that will factor in any new ticket talk is if new DNC nominees can still make the Ohio ballot. The question of Biden being on the Ohio ballot had been thought to be resolved when the DNC announced it would nominate Biden virtually before the Democrat’s late convention in August to meet Ohio’s early ballot deadline.

In terms of a new Democratic Ticket, the DNC needs to just ask and answer one central question: Which gives them the best chance to beat Trump? Biden or Kamala Harris with a running mate from a swing state like Whitmer from Michigan, Governor Shapiro from Pennsylvania or Senator Warner from Virginia?
