‘I Will Return My Uniform’ – Kenyan Policeman Vows After Security Operatives Killed Protesting Brother

The officer was seen lying beside his younger brother, draped in Kenya's flag, crying inconsolably while other protesters sang the Kenyan National Anthem.

A Kenyan police officer whose brother was shot dead by security operatives during the ongoing nationwide protests against tax increase in the country has vowed to resign and return his uniform to the government.

The police officer whose brother, who had taken part in the Anti-Finance Bill protests, was shot dead, was visibly emotional in a video making the rounds on social media.

The officer was seen lying beside his younger brother, draped in Kenya's flag, crying inconsolably while other protesters sang the Kenyan National Anthem.

In one of the videos, the man said in pain, "Just kill me, kill me”, while in another video, the officer was seen showing grief, raising his hand and pledging to resign and return his uniform following his brother's death.

He was held by another man beside him, who attempted to comfort him.

The officer was heard stating his intention to return his police uniform, sarcastically mentioning he would commend the officers for killing his brother.

"I am going to tell them, good work done, good work done," he said as he sobbed.

He answered a phone call and started informing the person on the other end that his brother had been fatally shot, while people surrounding him were complaining that anti-riot police were killing everyone, including their own.
