apexlifehub.com 1 day ago

Six new outdoor pools are set to open in Portland for the summer season, with one more on the way. The communities now have more options to enjoy and cool off as the temperatures continue to rise.

Extended Hours for Community Demand
To meet the high demand from the community, pools at Creston, Grant, Ida B. Wells-Barnett, Peninsula, Pier, and Sellwood will open on Thursday, June 20, and will stay open through late summer. Grant, Ida B. Wells, Pier, and Sellwood pools will have extended hours until Aug. 23, while Peninsula and Creston will remain open until Sept. 6.

Montavilla Pool Reopening
The Montavilla outdoor pool is scheduled to reopen on July 22 after a temporary closure for plumbing and drain cover upgrades. The pool will operate until Aug. 23, offering a refreshing experience for swimmers.

Indoor Pools Also Available
In addition to the outdoor pools, three of Portland Parks and Recreation's indoor pools in Southwest and East Portland will remain open throughout the summer.

Future Aquatic Center Plans
Officials are currently working on the development of the North Portland Aquatic Center at Northgate Park, following the closure of the Columbia pool in 2020. The new aquatic center aims to provide more swimming options for the local community.

Swim safety remains a top priority for Portland Parks and Recreation Director Adena Long who expressed gratitude for the patience and understanding of swimmers and families during the reopening process.
