Awards success for Wirral's Hive Youth Zone members
A WIRRAL youth centre is celebrating an 'awesome foursome' of awards for its members – both locally and nationally.
Young people taking part in a range of projects at the Hive Youth Zone in Birkenhead have been named champions in a range of areas from team working to dignity in the community.
The centre – which has 2,800 members from across Wirral and offers universal sessions for juniors aged 8-12, seniors aged 13-19 (up to 25 with an additional need) and ‘HiveAbility’ sessions for young people with an additional need, as well as specialist project nights – has seen the run of winners at award ceremonies and events around the country in recent weeks:
Hive’s chief executive Jayne Wilson, said: “We’re so proud to see all of these Hive members being recognised for their values, passions and talents and it’s a privilege for The Hive to play even a tiny part in helping them to achieve their potential.
“For a member of The Hive’s team to have national recognition, as well, was an incredible endorsement of the quality of the youth work in this building.”
A spokesperson for the LFC Foundation – which uses The Hive as one of its community hubs - said its awards are “dedicated to honouring individuals from across the Merseyside area who have demonstrated exemplary service, dedication and commitment to improving their community.”
The Greenpower Trust said its Spirit Award goes to "...the team deemed best by the judges for working through adversity, supporting fellow competitors, and all round holding themselves to a high standard in line with the values of the Greenpower project."
Claire Morgans, chief executive of Ykids, said: "So many young people are selflessly serving their communities and we want them to know they are seen and valued, and Merseyside has many amazing young people to be proud of."
