The 98th edition of the annual Willits Frontier Days is set to captivate attendees with a thrilling lineup of events. Taking place from Friday to July 6, this celebration of American Western traditions and ranching in Mendocino County promises a memorable experience for all.
A Week Full of Festivities
Kicking off with the vibrant Hometown Celebration street party, the festival will feature a range of activities including carnivals, tractor pulls, dances, rodeo, live music, and much more. The carnival will be open from Friday evening and remain in full swing until July 6. Attendees can also look forward to an exciting truck and tractor pull on Friday, followed by a lively street dance featuring music by Flat Busted and a buzzing beer garden.
A Royal Coronation
On Sunday, all eyes will be on the Frontier Days Sweetheart pageant where a young woman aged 16 to 20 will be crowned. This esteemed title is awarded to an individual who embodies "poise and personality", excels in equestrian skills, and embodies the true spirit of Western life. The winner will have the honor of representing Willits at various rodeo events nationally.
Thrilling Rodeo Action
The California Cowboys Pro Rodeo Association (CCPRA) rodeo is scheduled for July 3 and 4, featuring top cowboys and cowgirls from across the state competing for prestigious belt buckles, cash prizes, and ultimate bragging rights. The excitement continues with a junior rodeo on July 5, leading up to Bulls & Broncs on July 6 - a new addition to the festival that invites the public to participate in thrilling rodeo challenges for cash rewards.
Unforgettable Fourth of July Celebrations
The Fourth of July festivities will be a highlight with a lively parade on Main Street showcasing a "Cowboys and Cadillacs" theme, accompanied by live music and a delectable tri-tip barbecue. Additionally, a mouthwatering pancake breakfast hosted by the Willits Lions Club will be served on July 5.
