Transformers' Bumblebee comes to life in a stunning new cosplay video. Based on the Hasbro toy line, the first live-action Transformers movie was released in 2007, kickstarting a successful film franchise. Characters like Optimus Prime and Bumblebee have been staples of essentially every installment since, most recently appearing in 2023's Transformers: Rise of the Beasts.

@lon_cosplay on Instagram now shares a new video of herself transforming into Bumblebee from Transformers. Check it out below:

In addition to showing off the stunning final product, the video documents the artistry that went into crafting the Bumblebee suit. There was a great deal of molding and painting required, in addition to mechanical and electrical work. The end result is certainly deserving of a place in the cosplay hall of fame.

Bumblebee Deserves Another Solo Film

The 2018 Transformers Movie Proves It

While Michael Bay's Transformers movies started off strong, they arguably decreased in quality as the franchise went on. Transformers: The Last Knight in 2017 was certainly a low point for the franchise, and it has only a 16% on Rotten Tomatoes. In 2018, however, the franchise moved in a new direction with director Travis Knight's Bumblebee, which ended up becoming the highest-rated film in the franchise at 90%.

Bumblee told a smaller and more contained story, with Hailee Steinfeld starring as Charlie, a high school student who finds the injured titular Transformer and attempts to fix him up. In a franchise that had previously been light on character development and emotional stakes, Bumblebee was a breath of fresh air, centering on the relationship between Bumblebee and Charlie. Unfortunately, however, Bumblebee 2 never moved forward, perhaps due to the film's lower box office haul of $468 million.

Bumblebee was previously the lowest-grossing Transformers movie, but 2023's Transformers: Rise of the Beasts now occupies that position, having grossed $439 million worldwide.

While the Transformers: Rise of the Beasts ending sets up an epic crossover with the G.I. Joe franchise, there could still be room for a smaller film that features Steinfeld returning to the role of Charlie. This does feel unlikely, however, given the franchise's current direction, though Steinfeld could still reprise her role in a larger, team-up film in the future. It's unclear whether Bumblebee will get his own solo film again, but the latest Transformers cosplay certainly suggests that interest in the character remains high.
