11 Local Government Areas in Delta State Receive Subsidy Palliatives

ASABA/Nigeria: The Delta State Government has commenced the distribution of food palliatives to the Poor and Vulnerable House Holds (PVHH), as well as  widows and Persons with Disabilities (PWD) across the 25 Local Government Areas of the State.

The Secretary to the Delta State Government (SSG) Dr Kingsley Emu, who also is the Chairman of the State Subsidy Palliative Committee, charged the coordinators and members of the 25 Local Government Areas of the State to ensure that the items for distribution gets to people affected by the subsidy removal.

Dr Emu gave the charge today when he supervised the distribution of food palliative items to 11 Local Government Areas of the State at the DAPA warehouse in Ibusa, saying that the state governor, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori is passionate about the transparency of the distribution exercise.

He stated that 940 bags of 25 kg rice, and 150 bags of 25 kg of garri was being distributed to the LGAs, and that items must be divided into equal proportion to the entire 20 DSIEC wards across the 25 LGA’s, totaling 500 wards, so it can get down to targeted persons in the ward.

The SSG equally stated that the State Palliative Committee decided to use the DSIEC wards for the distribution for effective grassroots penetration, and ease of administration, adding that priority attention shall be given to persons who did not benefit from previous palliatives distribution in the state.

He called on the Committee LGAs  Coordinators to be transparent in order for them to deliver on their assigned responsibilities, with firm instruction to LGA Coordinators to submit reports of distribution with photographs and video recording of the exercise.

The 11 Local Government Areas that received their palliative items today were Aniocha North, Aniocha South, Oshimili North, Oshimli South, Isoko South, Ika South, Warri South, Uvwie, Ndokwa West, Ughelli North and Ughelli South.

It would be recalled that on the 13th of June, this year, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori flagged off the 3rd phase of the State palliative distribution to vulnerable residents in the State.
