Imagine sleeping, eating, and living where one of history's most influential leaders made decisions which shaped Britain - one buyer can as former Prime Minister Winston Churchill's home is up for sale.

The late wartime politician's former charming London property could be yours. Churchill snapped up the Kensington property for approximately £240,000 in 1946, when he lost the General Election. The property would now set a buyer back a whopping £19.5million. The current owners purchased the property for around £6million in 2001.

According to English Heritage, Churchill redecorated the property and reportedly turned one room into his 'snob library' - containing a large collection of his favourite books. He later bought the property next door and the two properties were later combined as one home.

The residence at 29 Hyde Park Gate is in quiet and prestigious cul de sac and boasts a beautiful garden, as well as four floors with plenty of space. There is a grand reception room perfect for entertaining, and six spacious bedrooms.

The master suite has a private terrace with lovely views of London plus a grand bathroom with a marble-style jacuzzi bath. There is also a large kitchen and a gym. Plus the Grade II home has charming details such as fireplaces in a number of rooms and original mouldings.

Pictures showcasing the inside of the home were recently shared on popular property page on TikTok, Property London - which offers access inside luxurious homes in the capital. Property London said: "Winston Churchill's iconic Kensington residence, located at 27 Hyde Park Gate, is now available. Priced at £19.5 million, this historic home, where Churchill resided after the 1945 election, offers a rare opportunity to connect with British heritage."

Meanwhile when it was shared on Instagram, one fan wrote: "I love what he’s done with the kitchen." While another added: "I think the government should just buy it and turn into a private museum or something."

Estate agents Knight Frank, who have listed the property, said: "The house is wide and arranged over only four floors, offering exceptional entertaining space, with a special and rare double height reception room which leads onto a truly beautiful and tranquil west facing garden. The principal bedroom suite opens onto a west facing terrace, with views of the garden."

It has been said that Churchill recuperated here after breaking his leg in Monte Carlo, with a ground-floor bedroom serving as his recovery room.
