Just weeks after resigning from his role as Super Eagles head coach, Finidi George is reportedly being eyed by NPFL side Rivers United, as their new head coach.
Finidi stepped down as Super Eagles coach after the NFF’s decision to appoint a foreign technical adviser to take over, offering him the role of assistant coach instead.
Unwilling to accept the demotion, the 53 year-old departed from the national team earlier this month.
According to a report in The Nation, Rivers United is now considering Finidi George to fill their vacant head coach position following the sacking of Stanley Eguma.
The club, dissatisfied with the performance of interim boss Evans Ogenyi, believes the former Nigeria International could rejuvenate the team after a disappointing 8th-place finish last season.
Finidi George previously achieved success by leading Enyimba to a league title, making him a serious candidate to guide Rivers United back to the top.
