An entertaining game between Cobh Ramblers and UCD finished 2-2 at St Colman’s Park after Willie O’Connor’s side twice equalised.

Liam Kervick twice put the home side in front, and the Students retaliated with goals from Niall Holohan and Ciaran Behan.

UCD arrived at St Colman’s Park looking to extend a seven game unbeaten run in the First Division, and they hit the ground running with an Adam Verdon warning-shot from the edge of the box going narrowly wide.

Cobh grew into the game, and they took the lead against the run of play when a Kervick strike from distance beat Kian Moore at the near post in the 31st minute.

UCD immediately equalised through a close range Holohan header from an in-swinging Behan free-kick.

Cobh rallied during the final seconds of the first half, and a flurry of activity around the penalty area peaked with an attempt from Jack Larkin going narrowly wide.

The game restarted with Alex Dunne cutting inside on the edge of the box and his shot was easily caught by Darragh Burke.

Cobh responded by freeing up Tiernan O’Brien on the right wing, and a low cross from the winger was side-footed in by Kervick in the 58th minute.

The Students equalised for a second time when Burke came out to deal with a corner. The goalkeeper missed the ball, and this allowed Behan to get a foot to it and it was 2-2 with 66 minutes on the clock.

Cobh brought on David Eguaibor with 15 minutes left to play, and one of his first touches was a shot which went straight into the hands of Moore.

Both teams had an opportunity to win it in added time, but a number of corners and free-kicks went to waste.
