According to a report from Channels News, former presidential spokesperson Laolu Akande expressed surprise that Nnamdi Kanu is pursuing a political solution instead of addressing his legal issues in court, given Kanu's bold reputation.

He suggested that Kanu should demonstrate confidence in his case by facing the legal process directly.

He said Kanu should do that rather than seeking an alternative resolution.

Laolu Akande made this statement in response to claims by Southeast Senators that social and economic activities in the South-East zone would remain stagnant unless Nnamdi Kanu is released.

According to the report, the Southeast Senators appealed to President of Nigeria, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to secure Nnamdi Kanu's release from prison.

In Laolu Akande's statement, he said, "I am surprised that he is trying to get a political solution. I think Mr Nnamdi Kanu should be bold enough to check out these things in court but apparently he is not. I would have expected him, based on what we know about him to say: ‘Look let us go to court."
