Football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has recently provided some valuable insights into the potential reasons why Arsenal may decide not to pursue the signing of Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen during the current transfer window.

While there has been a lot of speculation linking the Gunners to the Lille forward for some time, the transfer fee associated with Osimhen could prove to be a significant obstacle to the deal.

During his daily briefing, Romano suggested that any potential deal for Osimhen could be prohibitively expensive for Arsenal or any other interested club.

He added that clubs are proceeding with caution and are looking to better understand the salary and commission package, given the existence of an expensive release clause.

Negotiations with Napoli, the club currently holding Osimhen's rights, could be both difficult and protracted, and Arsenal may decide not to pursue the deal given the potential for a drawn-out process.

It's worth noting that Osimhen is a highly-rated striker and has attracted interest from several top clubs, including Arsenal's London rivals, Chelsea, and French champions, Paris Saint-Germain.

However, given the current economic climate, many clubs are hesitant to spend big on transfer fees and wages, which could further complicate negotiations.

As a result, Arsenal has reportedly begun exploring alternative options for a striker, including Viktor Gyokeres, who remains on their shortlist.

However, whether Arsenal will ultimately pursue Osimhen or opt for another striker remains to be seen, and fans will undoubtedly be keeping a close eye on the developments in the coming weeks.
