Ahead of the September 21 Edo State governorship election, there appears to be a division among members of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.

Some prominent PDP leaders in the state who belong to the Legacy group, have expressed their dissatisfaction with the Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki.

Speaking at a rally they organised in Edo North in a video posted by TVC news, two former lawmakers lamented the treatment meted out to them by Obaseki after they helped him secure re-election for a second term.

A former member of the House of Representatives, Omoregie Ogbeide Ihama said, “I am the one who stepped down for him to take that ticket for second tenure. Is it good to treat us like this?"

On his part, a former Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, Kabiru Adjoto said, “after the 2020 election, we were the ones who stood our ground that we must defend our votes. Today, 99.9% of all those who stood by that 2020 election have been sidelined.”
