Azimio la Umoja leader Raila Odinga on Friday toured Nyeri county where he attended the burial ceremony of Jimi Wanjigi father who was being laid to rest. The vocal leader of the opposition was accompanied his close allies from the Azimio la Umoja coalition.

Among the leaders who joined Raila Odinga in Nyeri county includes Siaya county governor Hon James Orengo, Roots party leader George Wajackoyah, Nyeri county governor Hon Mutahi Kahiga as well as Public Service Cabinet Secretary Hon Moses Kuria among other leaders.

While addressing the congregation of mourners, Nyeri county governor Hon Mutahi Kahiga hit out at the Kenya Kwanza administration accusing it of not fulfilling the promises that it made to the people of Kenya. Mutahi Kahiga vowed to continue criticizing the government whether he is in UDA or not.

He further went ahead to declare that they are ready to work with anyone. He also regretted why the Mt Kenya region did not vote for the Azimio la Umoja leader Raila Odinga during the 2022 general elections which saw President William Samoei Ruto emerge winner.

"We have continued to say that we voted for a government to provide services to the people of Kenya regardless where they come from. But what we voted in must count for something. Sometimes I wonder why we denied Raila Amollo Odinga the votes" Mutahi Kahiga said.

The vocal governor who is a close ally of deputy President Hon Rigathi Gachagua has been a fierce critic of the Azimio la Umoja leader Raila Odinga in recent years. He has however softened his stance after Deputy President Hon Rigathi Gachagua fell out with his boss, President William Samoei Ruto.
