According to a report from Daily Nigeria, The ongoing Kano Emirate crisis involving Sanusi II and his rival, the deposed Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero, has taken a new turn.

On Tuesday, the Kano State High Court adjourned the hearing of the case until Thursday, July 4, following an application by the Kano State Assembly seeking to prevent Bayero and four other emirs from presenting themselves as traditional rulers.

Currently, the Kano state government, led by Governor Abba Yusuf, insists that Sanusi II remains the legitimate emir of the ancient city.

On Tuesday, July 2, the court deferred the hearing of the ongoing tussle until July 4.

According to Daily Nigerian, the attorney general of Kano state and the speaker of the Kano State House of Assembly, represented by counsel Ibrahim Isah-Wangida Esq, filed a motion ex parte on May 27.

The motion seeks to restrain Aminu Ado-Bayero, the 15th emir, and four other dethroned emirs from Bichi, Rano, Gaya, and Karaye from parading themselves as traditional rulers.

During the hearing, Counsel to the applicants, Eyitayo Fatogun SAN, informed the court that he had been served with five processes by the first respondent on July 1 around 6:30 p.m.

"My lord, we received the respondent's five processes yesterday evening and we have filed all our responses.

We urge the court to give us a 30-minute stand down to enable us to serve the respondent with our responses," he stated.

In response, Counsel to Ado-Bayero, Abdul Muhammed SAN, opposed the 30-minute stand down and requested an adjournment to allow time to respond and file all their applications.

Justice Amina Adamu-Aliyu subsequently adjourned the matter until July 4 for the hearing of all pending applications and the originating motion.
