Police PRO says four policemen who extorted corps member of N600,000 detained, money recovered

The Public Relations Officer of the Kwara State Police Command, Toun Ejire-Adeyemi, on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, confirmed the detention and orderly room trial of four policemen who allegedly extorted a corps member of the sum of N600,000 on the road in the state.

The Police PRO disclosed this on her X handle while reacting to the post by the Force PRO, Muyiwa Adejobi, who asked the command to take up the matter following the complaint by the corps member.

The corps member, whose X handle is @youridolo, had earlier written the Police PRO on the issue, saying the policemen carried out the alleged extortion at the Ajase area of the state. He also displayed the transaction receipts of the money collected.

However, following the post of the Force PRO, the state Police PRO on Wednesday responded, saying the officers involved had been identified, detained and are currently facing orderly room trial, while the money had been recovered.

She added that the corps member who posted the matter has refused to come to the command after several calls to his phone.

She wrote: "Good morning sir. The incident was brought to my notice on the 5th of May; Immediately, investigation commenced, the money extorted was recovered, the four policemen were detained, their orderly room trial started yesterday. The complainant has refused to come up after several calls."
