Protesters Storm EFCC HQ, Want Matawalle’s Probe Reopened

Dozens of protesters from Zamfara State have occupied the entrance to the headquarters of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), calling on the commission to reopen investigations on the former governor of the state, Bello Matawalle.

The protesters under the auspices of APC Loyalists Forum is asking the EFCC to investigate all petitions against the former governor, including the alleged contract diversion up to the tune of N70 billion during his tenure as governor of the state.

The EFCC Director of Public Affairs, Wilson Uwujaren, who received the protest letter on behalf of the chairman, assured the protesters that the commission is determined to pursuing every corruption case to a logical conclusion.

NALDA Distributes Seeds To 900 Farmers In Ebonyi, Osun

A total of 900 farmers have received vital agricultural inputs from the National Agricultural Land Development Authority (NALDA), in Ebonyi and Osun states.

The empowerment is part of a broader effort to ensure the availability of staple foods, and to support Nigerian farmers in enhancing crop yields and overall food production in the country. The beneficiaries received bags of high-grade fertilizer, herbicides, and improved seed varieties tailored to the agricultural focus of each state.

In Ebonyi, accredited beneficiaries received rice and maize, while those in Osun were given rice and beans for cultivation. Four hundred (400) farmer received 200 bags of maize and rice respectively for cultivativation across 10 communities within the Ohaozara/Onicha/Ivo Federal Constituency alongside inputs in the event that took place at Ishiagu Community.

It said the non-payment of salaries, pensions, lack of promotions, and absence of gratuities had derailed past events. The state NLC chairman Comrade Terungwa Igbe on behalf of the workers passed a vote of confidence on Governor Hyacinth Alia for prioritising the welfare of workers.

He commended the governor for demonstrating uncommon passion for the welfare of civil servants in the state. Igbe said, “The vote of confidence passed on the governor is in recognition of his deliberate prioritisation of workers’ welfare and growth as evident in the prompt and regular payment of workers’ salaries, as well as pensions and gratuities to retirees.”

Buni Inaugurates Digital Land Administration System To Address Scams

Yobe State government has inaugurated the state’s Geographic Information Service, a digital platform to enhance land administration and management in the state.

Governor Mai Mala Buni who disclosed this during the inauguration of the platform in Damaturu, said the establishment of the Yobe State Geographic Information Service, YOGIS, marked a significant milestone in the state’s efforts to adopt global best practices in land management.

Buni said the digital system is expected to increase revenue generation through titling, lease, consent, mortgages, surveying, mapping, ground rent and perfection of titles. According to him, to curb land grabbing, racketeering and scams, all land vendors must register for proper records and security before operating.
