On 7th July, 2024 the Nigerian Senator representing Ekiti State South Senatorial District, Senator Yemi Adaramodu during an interview with Channels Television, revealed that the budget of the National Assembly was not up to one percent of the whole budget of the country.

According to Channels Television, the Chairman Senate Committee on Media and Publicity, Senator Yemi Adaramodu said "Like I said, in the 2023 budget, and our 2024 budget, the budget of the National Assembly is not up to 1% of the whole budget, it’s not up to. And National Assembly is an arm of government that is the legislative arm of government. And so within this budget, that is where the salaries of legislators are; that is where the salaries of all the auxiliary staff in the National Assembly are. That is where either the bureaucrats, the technocrats, or the support staff of the National Assembly [get paid].”

If you could recall, some days ago the former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Honorable Yakubu Dogara while speaking at the two-day House of Representatives open week celebration in Abuja said that during his time as Speaker of the House of Representatives, his salary was four hundred thousand naira, and his total allowance was twenty-five million naira.
