Bishop David Oyedepo, founder of the Living Faith Church, recently shared an experience about rejecting a luxurious gift during a sermon at the Leadership Empowerment Summit in July. He used this story to illustrate the true role of prophets and the importance of integrity.

In his sermon, Oyedepo emphasized that genuine prophets are not focused on receiving material wealth from others but are dedicated to helping people. He highlighted that true prophets serve as helpers rather than seeking assistance from others.

To further expressed his point, Oyedepo recounted how he returned a brand-new Range Rover sent to him as a gift. He refused the gift because he did not know the giver personally or the source of their wealth. He made it clear that accepting such gifts without knowing the donor's background could compromise integrity.

Oyedepo described the incident where the anonymous benefactor tried to give him the expensive car. Despite the luxury and allure of the gift, he insisted on returning it because he was not comfortable accepting something from an unknown source. He stressed the importance of transparency and knowing the people behind such gestures.

He further advised his followers not to be swayed by rumors about the wealth of prophets. He urged them to stay focused on the true purpose and mission of prophetic ministry, which is to provide help and guidance rather than seeking personal gain. He cautioned against being misled by materialistic portrayals of prophets, emphasizing the need for discernment and a focus on genuine service.

Hear him: "Somebody sent me a special model of Range Rover. Brand new. They said who are you?. He said I’m the one God knows. I said we don’t take things from people God knows. I want to know them. I said return the car please. Nobody is looking for who to grab. Don’t get caught in the web, misleading the lifestyle of a prophet so as to miss what he carries for you."
