The Adamawa State Police Command on Thursday, March 28, 2024, gave details of how some people in the state decided to redesign motorcycles to look like bicycles after the state government announced the restriction of movement of commercial motorcycles in some parts of the state.

The state police command disclosed this on its X handle, adding that the enforcement on the ban on movement of commercial motorcycles in some parts of the state is still in force, and any motorcycle that is designed to look like bicycle will be impounded.

The state government had ordered the restrictions on motorcycle movement in Viniklang, Federal Housing Estate, Ngurore, Mbaba, Wauru Jabbe, and Yolde Pate communities in Girei, Yola North and Yola South local government areas due to the activities of criminals and bandits.

A motorcycle that was redesigned to look like a bicycle, as posted by the state police command on Thursday.

However, despite the restriction, the state police command said on Thursday that it had found out that some people in the affected three local government areas are redesigning their motorcycles to look like bicycles in order to beat the restriction order, adding that those redesigned motorcycles would be impounded henceforth.

The command wrote: "The Adamawa State Police Command has observed violations of government orders regarding the operation of motorcycles in those areas. People have been seen within these areas with motorcycles disguised as bicycles.

"The command wishes to advise members of the public to desist from using such types of motorcycles and respectfully comply with such orders to ensure public safety, public order and prevent the breakdown of law and order."
