Social Media users have expressed mixed reactions after it was reported by Vanguard that the Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu, said that President Bola Tinubu was not responsible for Nigeria’s current economic hardship.

Speaking during a special ceremony held at his country home in Bende, Abia State, to honour his 53rd birthday, Kalu emphasised that the current economic troubles are not only the fault of President Tinubu, but rather the result of previous administrations' incompetence.

During a discussion with media at the well-attended gathering, Kalu explained that President Tinubu is working hard to address the inherited difficulties.

He said; “The hardship we are passing through was not caused by this man. It’s a piled up case of previous administrations and how they mismanaged one or two things.”

Kalu urged Nigerians to be patient and support President Tinubu's efforts, stating that his policies are already showing signs of improvement.
