Arsenal and Man Utd dealt exciting £102m transfer boost

The Gunners are one of several Premier League clubs linked with a big money move for Napoli star Victor Osimhen.

Arsenal and Chelsea have been dealt an exciting transfer boost in their reported pursuit of prolific Napoli striker Victor Osimhen as the summer window begins to heat up.

Both the London clubs are known to be in the market for a marksman this summer with the Nigeria international an enticing prospect. Osimhen bagged 15 Serie A goals last season and has marked himself as one of the continent's most prolific goalscorers since joining Napoli in 2020.

The player has been linked with a move to the Premier League and has even hinted at a desire to make that dream transfer this year. The Gunners and Blues are two leading candidates with rivals Manchester United also reportedly interested in Osimhen.

Those transfer links have been present since January but June proved a quiet month for any signs of progress over a transfer. However, transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has reassured the sides that there is still substance to those rumours.

Taking to social media platform X, Romano wrote: "Victor Osimhen’s plan is still to leave Napoli this summer as movement is expected soon. After quiet June, Napoli expect proposals to arrive for Osimhen as he could be on the move; the release clause is around €120m. Preference for Premier League but story still open."

Any move for Osimhen won't come cheap for Arsenal or Chelsea. The striker signed a contract extension with the Italian side last December which is due to keep him on the Napoli books until 2026.
