The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, asserted that he only requires the approval of President Bola Tinubu before initiating any project, and does not need the consent of any other individual. According to Daily Post, Wike made this statement while launching the Kwaita-Yebu Road project in Kwali Area Council, which is estimated to cost 7 billion Naira.

This development comes amid a dispute between Wike and the FCT Senator, Ireti Kingibe, who had criticized Wike for undertaking infrastructure projects that do not meaningfully impact the lives of FCT residents.

In response, Wike stated that he is not obligated to seek permission from anyone to inform them about the projects he intends to pursue, as the only person he needs to obtain such approval from is the President who appointed him to his position.

He said, "For those who are ignorant and don’t know what to say, that we are only doing roads, please let the people know that we are doing something.

“I don’t need to seek permission from anybody to tell him what projects I will embark upon.

“It is only the person who appointed me that I can seek such from and that is the President. So nobody can go on air and say they are not doing schools, I don’t need to come and inform you."
