As reported by Vanguard, the Igbo-Biafra Nationalists (IBN) have voiced their full support for the creation of an additional state in the Southeast region of Nigeria. According to the group's convener, Mazi Uche Mefor, this is a crucial step in addressing historical injustices and fostering unity among the Igbo people.

"Our ultimate goal is to see an autonomous, monolingual, and monoethnic Igbo nation that can compete favorably with other regions in Nigeria," Mefor stated. The group has commended individuals and organizations like Honourable Ugochinyere and Senator Ned Nwoko, who are advocating for the creation of Orlu and Anioma states, respectively.

While both proposals have merit, IBN expressed a preference for Anioma State. "Anioma is an Igbo-speaking area, and we urge the proponents of both Orlu and Anioma states to work together strategically to ensure a robust political bargain for the Igbo people and the Southeast region," Mefor said.

Furthermore, IBN advocated for the reinstatement and reintegration of all uprooted and transferred Igbo communities, currently gerrymandered into the South-South and North Central regions, back to Igboland, their ancestral homeland. "These communities rightfully belong to Igboland, and we will continue to fight for their return," Mefor declared.
