Oscar Sudi, the Kapseret Constituency Member of Parliament (MP), has alleged that recent protests in Kenya were part of a calculated effort to remove President William Ruto's administration from power.

In a video statement on July 5, Sudi asserted that there was a deliberate plan not only to set fire to his entertainment venue but also to stage a coup against the government. His remarks, widely circulated online, described a systematic attempt to disrupt the current administration.

"The incidents in Kenya were premeditated. There was an attempt to overthrow the government. It was a well-organized coup," Sudi claimed, heightening political tensions.

While refraining from naming specific individuals, Sudi aimed to refute allegations that President Ruto and his allies orchestrated violence to suppress anti-government protests across Kenya in recent weeks.

Instead, Sudi pointed fingers at other groups, accusing them of using youths and civil societies as tools to incite violence while concealing their true motives.

Expressing dismay over the destruction during the protests, including the burning of his venue, Timber XO, Sudi emphasized its wider impact on the community.

"The burning in counties like Uasin Gishu is deeply embarrassing. We look foolish," lamented Sudi.

Sudi questioned the connection between the Finance Bill controversy and the economic damage to local businesses and communities.

Sudi revealed that Timber XO was not merely a nightclub but also housed shops, a car wash, vehicle servicing, and a hotel, impacting the livelihoods of around 600 individuals.

The MP's frustration was evident as he described the personal devastation caused by the destruction of his property.

"I challenged those responsible for inciting violence to come and burn my house, letting their malice show," he stated, directing blame at those he held responsible for the unrest.

Sudi's allegations come amid his decision to take a break from public life and active politics, citing efforts by political rivals to smear his reputation.

"I have taken a step back due to envy-driven attacks. If God allows, I may reconsider," he remarked in a social media post addressing queries about a recent Ksh20 million donation made during a church fundraising event.

As repercussions from the protests continue to unfold, Nairobi County alone reported losses exceeding Ksh340 million over five days of unrest, with numerous businesses grappling with property damage and looting.
