William Ruto is going through the similar issues as his predecessor, Uhuru Kenyatta. An enraged Uhuru publicly lamented his deputy Ruto's frequent campaigning at the busiest season of the 2022 General Election campaigns.

He accused Ruto of failing to carry out his duties and even challenged him to resign down. This Labour Day, President Ruto mocked a few anonymous lawmakers, accusing them of seeking publicity rather than serving the people's interests.

And we don't have to lie to one another; instead, we should be open and honest with each other. It is needless to seek popularity because those of us elected to positions of responsibility did so to serve and better our country, as well as to represent the interests of our constituents.

"I see many leaders working hard to win people over. If your exclusive focus is on sustaining your popularity, when will you have time to work for the people who elected you? We can't achieve leadership or national growth if we lose sight of why we were elected.

This is notable because Uhuru made similar remarks at the Nyayo National Stadium during the same celebrations in 2022, accusing Ruto of attempting to gain popularity by assigning blame for the country's problems to the administration.

The president became enraged, claiming that his deputy should be trying to alleviate the public's concerns rather than criticising the administration for things like the excessive cost of living and other complaints.

In addition, he claimed Ruto was not doing his job and recommended him to resign if he was dissatisfied with the government.

"Instead of helping me address the situation you are all over in the marketplaces inciting people against me and then you call yourself a big leader," Uhuru stated.
