According to a report from DAILY POST, Senate President Godswill Akpabio has accused the immediate past governor of Akwa Ibom State, Emmanuel Udom, of refusing to implement any project in his Northwest Senatorial district during his eight-year tenure.

Akpabio's scathing remarks came during a back-and-forth with Senator Akpan Sampson, who represents Akwa Ibom South Senatorial district, over a bill seeking to establish a Federal Medical Centre (FMC) in every state.

The heated exchange began when Sampson complained that his senatorial district was not captured in the bill, and suggested that the legislation be stepped down to allow all districts to be considered.

However, Akpabio, who served as governor of Akwa Ibom from 2007 to 2015, before handing over to Udom, took the opportunity to voice his grievances against his successor.

"I gave you a governor for eight years that did not do anything in my senatorial district. I am not criticizing the governor — he did nothing in my senatorial district," Akpabio said.

The Senate President then challenged Sampson to sponsor a bill to establish an FMC in his own senatorial district, including the Eket and Ikot Ekpene areas.

"If you do not sponsor it, it cannot come to this stage," Akpabio asserted.
