PDP Rejects Court Nullification of Edo Gubernatorial Primary as APC Woos Ighodalo to Defect

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Campaign Organisation in Edo State has voiced its disapproval of the Federal High Court's decision nullifying Barrister Asue Ighodalo's candidacy as the party's flagbearer for the upcoming gubernatorial election.

The court ruling, delivered by Justice Inyang Ekwo, sparked reactions from both political camps.

Director-General of the PDP Campaign Council, Matthew Iduoriyekemwen, denounced the judgment, describing it as unprecedented and contradictory to previous appellate court decisions on internal party affairs.

He emphasized that the court's decision did not invalidate the primary election that produced Ighodalo and his running mate.

Iduoriyekemwen assured party members and supporters, as well as the people of Edo State, to remain calm amidst the situation orchestrated by what he termed as mischievous elements spreading misinformation.

In contrast, the All Progressives Congress (APC) extended an invitation to Ighodalo to defect to their party.

According to Daily Post, Orobosa Omo-Ojo, Director of the APC Governorship Campaign Council's Publicity Committee, welcomed the court's ruling, describing it as a relief from alleged imposition and governance deemed self-serving.

Omo-Ojo urged Ighodalo to join forces with Senator Monday Okpebholo, the APC's flagbearer, in delivering positive change to Edo State.
