Suspected Delta Kidnapper Killed, Victims Rescued

The Delta State Police Command conducted an operation in the Orogun area, resulting in the killing of a suspected kidnapper and the recovery of an AK-47 rifle. Acting on intelligence, police and vigilante groups raided a hideout in Okuno, Orogun, where kidnappers were believed to be hiding with victims.

During the operation, a fierce gun battle ensued, leading to the injury of one suspect who later died in the hospital. Two kidnapped victims were rescued unharmed and reunited with their families. The police are now pursuing the other fleeing suspects.

Additionally, the command arrested Orji Timothy and Anthony Odumegwu for possession of suspected Indian hemp and attempted motorcycle theft, respectively.

Senate Plans Action on Naira

The Senate Committee on Finance has expressed concern over the continuous depreciation and instability of the Nigerian naira. The committee, led by Senator Mohammed Sani Musa, is actively monitoring the situation and is committed to collaborating with relevant stakeholders to implement effective policies and strategies to address the issue. Senator Musa highlighted that the committee is exploring various policy options to mitigate the impact of naira depreciation and promote economic stability. The statement emphasized the need to address root causes such as fluctuations in global oil prices, fiscal deficits, and structural imbalances in the economy. The committee aims to enhance transparency and accountability in fiscal management processes to build investor confidence and stimulate sustainable economic growth. Senator Musa urged all Nigerians to remain vigilant and resilient in overcoming economic challenges for collective prosperity.

Additionally, the government is finalizing terms to resuscitate the state-owned Nigergas Company Limited.
