Elder Asukewe Ikoawaji, a member of Rivers State Elders Forum, has called for an end to the political conflict between Governor Fubara and former Governor Wike.
In an interview with Arise TV, Ikoawaji stated that past governors in Rivers State had similar issues with their predecessors but still successfully completed their two terms in office. He said when Wike was governor, he was involved in a dispute with his predecessor, former Governor Rotimi Amaechi but he still served eight years as governor. He said when Peter Odili was governor, he was involved in a conflict with Rufus Ada-George, yet he served for eight years. He said similarly, when Rotimi Amaechi became governor, he was at loggerheads with Odili but he still finished his two terms.
Ikoawaji stated that Governor Fubara should focus on delivering the benefits of democracy to the people of Rivers State.
In Ikoawaji's words: "Wike became governor and refused to recognize Amaechi, that doesn't mean Wike did not complete his tenure. So Governor Fubara should stand and overcome his opposition so that he can deliver dividends of democracy to Rivers people"
