Former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode has expressed the belief that ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo’s father might not be a Yoruba man.

Fani-Kayode said Obasanjo’s ‘silence’ over a recent comment by Igbo businessman Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu that Yoruba people are “political rascals,” was an indication that the former president’s father was an Igbo man, not Yoruba.

Iwuanyanwu said Igbo people had invested so much in Nigeria and were not going to yield to the pressure of people asking them to leave.

Speaking in Awka, Anambra State, on Saturday, Iwuanyanwu berated Yoruba people.

However, Fani-Kayode said he was disappointed that Obasanjo was silent over Iwuanyanwu’s anti-Yoruba comments.

The Vigilance Group of Nigeria has appealed to the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), to assent to Vigilante Bill before May 29 when he will leave office.

According to the group, the National Assembly has already passed the VGN (Establishment) Bill 2022.

The Commandant General of the group, Dr Usman Jahun, said this in Abeokuta, Ogun State, while speaking with newsmen during his visit to the VGN men in the South-West.

Jahun said, “The bill has been passed by both the Senate and the House of Representatives. What we are waiting for is for the President to assent to the bill.

“Our message to Mr President is that before he leaves office on May 29, we are pleading with him to please sign this bill for the sake of Nigerians so that there will be more peace and security in the country.”

Jahun said giving the group a legal backing would create more jobs and allow the VGN operatives to fill the security gaps currently existing in the country.
