Senator Adams Oshiomhole, a former Governor of Edo State, has advocated for capital punishment for individuals obstructing the progress of the Dangote Refinery and causing economic hardship.

Speaking at the inaugural Prof Emeka Umerah public lecture in Abuja, themed 'Nigeria Yesterday, Today and a Prosperous Future,' Oshiomhole highlighted the critical challenges facing the refinery.

According to Daily Trust, Oshiomhole expressed frustration that, despite the celebrations surrounding the Dangote Refinery, Nigeria continues to export crude oil while denying allocations to Dangote.

He argued that this is a deliberate effort to undermine the refinery and inflict hardship on Nigerians. Oshiomhole stated, "Those guys deserve to be hanged. If we don't hang them, they will hang all of us. What it takes to hang them will require a president with extraordinary courage."

Oshiomhole also praised President Bola Tinubu for his bold leadership and vision, acknowledging that implementing reforms often involves temporary pain. He remarked that it takes a courageous leader to undertake such necessary changes.

Additionally, Oshiomhole mentioned that the Senate is considering a review of the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) to address the issues causing these economic challenges.

This call for capital punishment has ignited a debate on the urgent need to tackle the economic saboteurs hindering the Dangote Refinery's progress and contributing to Nigeria's hardships. Oshiomhole's strong stance reflects a broader concern about the impact of these actions on the nation's economic stability and development.
