Tanko Yunusa, a member of the Labour Party, has reacted to comments made by Doyin Okupe, the former director general of the presidential campaign council for Peter Obi. Okupe stated that President Bola Tinubu was the best candidate in the last presidential election. He said Tinubu is better than Peter Obi and Atiku in terms of capability.
However, in a video shared by Arise TV, Yunusa stated that Okupe is a respected leader in the country and has the right to change his opinion and direction. He said that while some people might think the Labour Party has lost Okupe’s support, they have gained many other supporters. He expressed his respect for Okupe, emphasizing that everyone is entitled to their views.
In Yunusa's words: "Regarding the issue of Doyin Okupe, don't forget that he is a revered leader in the country. So as far as we concerned, if he has decided to change and move into another direction, he is at liberty to do that. While you think probably we lost him, we have gained a lot of people. So I will leave that and give him respect because he is somebody I respect so much".
