Just almost two years ago, former President Uhuru Kenyatta was the most protected man on land with over 100 elite police officers at his disposal.

As a custom, the President's security is made up of elite GSU officers from G- Company and the Recce Company.

But the once heavily guarded man lost all the benefits of his office when he exited power in 2022 and succeeded by President William Ruto. And from there, everything changed completely.

In early 2023, the former President had a clash with Ruto administration when his security was scaled down to six police officers. As a result, he was forced to turn to private security guards as backup plan.

Having lost his title as Commander-in-Chief of the Kenya Defence Forces, his then Aide-de-camp Brigadier Timothy Stelu Lekolool crossed over to Ruto.

Pepita Ranka who was one of Uhuru's lead bodyguards, was embedded into Ruto's security.

Further, his longest serving bodyguard, Eric Nahashon Kiragu was recalled and deployed as traffic chief in Naivasha. As a result, Uhuru has a completely new security detail.
