In a recent appearance on the "Mic On Podcast," Chief Okoi Obono Obla, former Head of Special Presidential Investigations and aide to ex-President Muhammadu Buhari, made startling allegations about corruption and inaction at the highest levels of Nigerian government.

Obla, who served during Buhari's administration, revealed that his attempts to investigate high-profile corruption cases were often met with resistance and ultimately ignored. He recounted a particularly troubling incident involving a Nigerian senator and former military governor implicated in the Panama Papers scandal.

"I did a memo to the attorney general, Malami, to brief him on what we were doing," Obla stated. "But later on, the Attorney General said all the cases I investigated, they never mandated me."

The former presidential aide explained that upon discovering the senator's alleged involvement in offshore financial activities, he sought assistance from the Director General of the National Intelligence Agency to conduct a thorough investigation. The results were alarming.

"They did the investigation, the report was sent to me, I sent one to the President and I sent one to the attorney general that this man has over 200 million pounds sterling in offshore islands," Obla disclosed. "But nothing happened, till today."
