Following a devastating suicide bombing in Gwoza that claimed over 30 lives, Nigerian troops launched a significant counteroffensive against Boko Haram terrorist camps in the Sambisa Forest.

The operation, part of Operation Hadin Kai North-East, targeted terrorist enclaves in Jango 1, 2, and 3, Arra, Bula Dalo, Ari Kanumbu, Bula Ali, and Mallam Modu Commander.

Supported by the Air Task Force, the troops neutralized four Boko Haram terrorists and recovered substantial weaponry, including 80 rounds of 7.62mm x 54 metal links, 2 FN rifle magazines, and 2 G3 rifle magazines.

Many terrorists fled before the troops arrived, and several escaped with bullet wounds after an engagement at Garin Bayero.

This successful operation highlights the military's commitment to dismantling terrorist networks and restoring security in the North-East.

According to Tribune, the counteroffensive comes in the wake of increased terrorist activities in the region, with recent attacks prompting strong condemnations from prominent figures such as President Tinubu and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.
