Political strategist and policy advisor, Katch Ononuju, highlighted that certain Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) members in the national assembly are urging for the resignation of Damagu from his role as the acting national chairman of the party. They allege that Damagu might be receiving undisclosed payments from external sources.

During an interview with a journalist on Arise Television, Katch Ononuju voiced these concerns while discussing various issues within the PDP.

During the interview, Katch Ononuju said, "the reason why you see members of the national assembly complain is because they think that Damagun is in somebody's pocket. Do you know why? It is because the PDP is not in power and who has money can manipulate outcomes."

"Nigerians says that he who pays the piper dictates the tune. If leaders of the party is not willing to spend, anybody who desperately spends will buy the loyalty of who is economically challenged."
