According to PREMIUM TIMES News, In a shocking turn of events, the Federal High Court in Abuja has nullified the Peoples Democratic Party's (PDP) governorship primary election held in Edo state. In a ruling delivered by Justice Ahmed Mohammed on Wednesday, the court declared the primary illegal and unconstitutional.

The court's decision comes after a petition was filed by one of the governorship aspirants of the PDP, Mr Omoregie Ogbeide-Ihama, who challenged the eligibility of the winner of the primary, Governor Godwin Obaseki.

In his petition, Ogbeide-Ihama alleged that the party's decision to grant Governor Obaseki a waiver to contest in the primary election was a violation of the party's constitution. He also claimed that the delegates' list used for the primary was doctored and did not reflect the true members of the party.

After hearing arguments from both parties, Justice Mohammed ruled in favor of Ogbeide-Ihama, stating that the party's decision to grant the governor a waiver was against the provisions of the party's constitution and therefore renders the primary election null and void.

The ruling has caused an uproar among supporters of both Governor Obaseki and Ogbeide-Ihama. While some see it as a victory for the rule of law, others are disappointed at the turn of events.

In light of this ruling, the PDP has been thrown into turmoil as the party now has to find a new candidate for the upcoming governorship election in Edo state. This development has also caused a delay in the party's campaign plans and has put them at a disadvantage against their opponents, the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Meanwhile, Governor Obaseki has expressed his disappointment with the court's decision but has assured his supporters that he will explore all legal options to ensure that the PDP remains the ruling party in Edo state.

The nullification of the PDP primary has also raised concerns about the viability of the upcoming gubernatorial election in the state and has left many citizens wondering about the future of their state and its leadership.

As the situation continues to unfold and new developments arise, one thing is for certain - the political atmosphere in Edo state is at an all-time high and the outcome of this legal battle will have a significant impact on the state's future.
