Fifty sacks of rice and eight cows were gifted by Hyacinth Alia, chieftain of the All Progressives Congress and executive governor of Benue state, following an unannounced visit to Federal Government Girls' College, Gboko. The administration and children of the institution welcomed Governor Hyacinth Alia with open arms during his unannounced visit, according to Alia.

Saturday, Reverend Father Hyacinth Alia, the governor of Benue state, posted to his verified Facebook page: "Earlier today, I paid an unscheduled visit to Federal Government Girls' College, Gboko, where I was greeted with a warm and heartfelt welcome by the management and students of the school."

In order to ensure the sustenance and welfare of these upcoming leaders, I gave eight cows and fifty sacks of rice, he said. Our goal in doing this is to make sure our girls eat well so they can give their whole attention to school and do well academically. He added: "As a passionate advocate for girl child education, I encourage all the students to strive for excellence, make their parents proud, and lay the foundation for their future success."
