Farooq Oreagba, the Managing Director of NG Clearing and former member of the Derivatives Product Advisory Committee of the Nigerian Stock Exchange, revealed on Arise TV's Morning Show that his cancer diagnosis fundamentally transformed his life priorities. Diagnosed with incurable multiple myeloma in February 2014, Oreagba views this as the best thing that ever happened to him, as it reshaped his perspective and sense of purpose.

According to report from punch, at the 2024 Ojude Oba festival in Ogun State, Oreagba spoke passionately about providing hope to other cancer patients. He shared his journey, emphasizing his commitment to counseling patients and advocating for better healthcare access. Oreagba also runs marathons to raise funds for cancer charities, driven by a desire to offer hope to those facing similar battles.

Reflecting on his experience, Oreagba recounted how unexpected sources provided support, while some expected sources did not, teaching him valuable lessons about relationships. Despite his ongoing health challenges, he remains fulfilled and happy, focusing on his family and personal well-being. Since his diagnosis, he has undergone extensive treatment, including a bone marrow transplant and years of chemotherapy. Now, having ceased chemotherapy, he feels reinvigorated and continues his professional work, deriving joy from each day.

Oreagba noted a significant reduction in his social circle after his diagnosis, emphasizing the importance of genuine friendships. He explained that his circle of friends dwindled dramatically, illustrating the lesson that true friends are invaluable and should be cherished.

He also discussed his tattoos, which hold personal significance and have been a part of him for years. His tattoos reflect his life philosophy and experiences, with inscriptions that remind him to live each day fully and to rely on God's judgment alone.

Highlighting the Ojude Oba festival, Oreagba described it as a cherished family tradition that showcases their heritage and unity. He detailed the longstanding involvement of his family in the event, emphasizing its importance as a collective family affair that fosters togetherness. He mentioned that preparations for the next year’s celebration are already underway, reflecting the event's deep-rooted significance.

Oreagba expressed that, unlike other attendees who belong to specific associations, his only affiliation is with the Heritage Group formed by the paramount ruler, the Awujale of Ijebuland. He acknowledged the photographers for the viral success of his event photos, attributing the attention to their skills rather than any deliberate effort on his part.

He also recounted his unique living experience on a Lagos beach for four years, highlighting his commitment to enjoying life despite its challenges. Living on the beach without concern for security, he embraced life fully, illustrating his resolve to make the most of his circumstances.
