Channels Television reports that military officials said a woman was killed when a suspected bomber prematurely detonated an explosive device, narrowly avoiding a tragedy that could have killed many more. It was the fourth attempt in as many weeks, and it happened amidst tightened security. Speaking to reporters on behalf of General Christopher G. Musa, Chief of Defense Staff, Brigadier General Abdul Buba described the event and its aftermath.

The suspect was apprehended in time to prevent the fourth incidence; she herself became the sole victim when she detonated the explosives too soon. Overall, twenty people lost their lives, while fifty-two were injured to varying degrees and hospitalized.

Because the bomb went off before the perpetrator could reach a densely populated location, it prevented many casualties. Thanks to the quick actions of the security team, the bombing attempt was only slightly damaged. Buba conveyed deep sadness at the lives lost as a result of continuing hostilities, highlighting the impact on both civilian and military populations.

A tragedy for society, community, and the nation, the sad loss of lives, Buba said. The profound sense of duty and sorrow shown by the military over the ongoing casualties in these violent occurrences were made evident in his speech. He spoke on behalf of the military services' shared sorrow and offered his sympathies to the towns and families who had been impacted.

Therefore, we sympathize with those who have suffered the loss of loved ones and offer our condolences on behalf of the Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. C. G. Musa, as well as officers and men of the armed services. All victims in need of healing and recovery have our deepest sympathies.
