The mother of Goodnews 'Gnewzy' Emuemu, the fast-rising singer who was abducted recently has pleaded with the kidnappers to release her son.

According to media reports, the singer was abducted a few days ago along Eklat road in Ughelli, Delta State, when he was returning home from a show.

The abduction was confirmed by the singer's music label, Eric Many Records. The label disclosed that Gnewzy's manager, Obas9ice, was with him when the incident happened, and that he narrowly escaped being kidnapped too.

It was also reported that the kidnappers had contacted the CEO of Gnewzy's music label, Dilly Umenyiora, and demanded the sum of $200,000 as ransom before they could release him.

In her reaction to the incident, Gnewzy's mother has begged the kidnappers to release the singer because he's her only son.

According to the report by Daily Post on Friday, the distraught mother said in pidgin, "I beg, na the only child wey I get o. I beg. Make una free this boy for me. I beg, make them release my pikin. Oh God, make una release this pikin for me, I beg. Na the only son wey I get. I no get any other one."

However, the spokesperson for the Delta State Police Command, Bright Edafe, has said that the police are aware of the abduction, and that they are investigating the matter.

He said, "We are investigating. You know, sometimes you may not know what transpired that led to that. We are looking into it to see if there are any underlying issues that could have led to this for now."
