According to a report from the Sun, Dr. Adebayo Orire, a leader of the All Progressive Congress in Ekiti State, has urged collective action from ordinary citizens, journalists, and civil society members to expose and denounce the unethical and corrupt behaviors of public officials, including powerful figures like governors.

He stressed that while these officials may be shielded from prosecution by immunity, they are not exempt from public judgment or media scrutiny.

To effectively combat corruption at its source, he argued that citizens must reject candidates with questionable backgrounds, as these individuals are unlikely to reform once in office.

During an interview with The Sun, Dr. Orire remarked, "We, the outsiders, you the journalists. There was a time when one senator brought a car home and the villagers started throwing stones at him. Let that sort of thing continue. They say the governors have immunity, talk. They don’t have immunity to prevent you from talking. The social media is there. When we wage this war and the government knows that you want it, they will do it. Then one day, you and I will want to put an eye on who we put in offices. You elect people into offices, knowing their antecedents and you expect them to change when they get more power, it is a lie."
