According to Daily Post, The Gombe State Local Government Election Petition Tribunal has scheduled July 9 for the continuation of hearings on petitions lodged by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). These petitions challenge the outcomes of the local government elections held on April 27, 2024.

The PDP has specifically contested the victory of Sani Haruna, chairman, and Muhammad Adamu, deputy chairman of Gombe Local Government under the All Progressives Congress (APC), alongside the Gombe State Independent Electoral Commission (GSIEC).

Additionally, a separate action was filed by the PDP candidate in Billiri Local Government against the declared winner, Mrs. Egla Idris.

According to details from the PDP's petition, which was disclosed to journalists, the party seeks several remedies, including a declaration that the April 27, 2024, elections conducted by GSIEC were invalid due to allegations of corrupt practices, irregularities, and legal violations.

The petition also requests the Tribunal to issue orders nullifying the declaration of Sani Haruna and Muhammad Adamu as chairman and deputy chairman of Gombe Local Government respectively, and to restrain them from assuming these positions. It further seeks a declaration that the election conducted by GSIEC on the specified date was marred by corrupt practices and irregularities under the law.
