Mr. Peter Gregory Obi, a former governor of Anambra State and a candidate for the Labour Party (LP, in the 2023 presidential elections, has pleaded with Nigerians to pray for politicians, hoping that they will be moved to the point where they will use public finances for the development and good of the people.
A story that was released on the official X handle of ARISE NEWS on Sunday included this declaration as one of its contents.
According to the source, the former governor of Anambra State made the request on Saturday as he was speaking at the funeral ceremony of the late Cecilia Omehia, who was the mother of Celestine Omehia, who had previously served as the governor of Rivers State.
When Peter Obi was speaking at the ceremony, he stated that, in the current circumstances, all politicians in Nigeria require prayers in order to act in a moral manner. In order to ensure that public funds are used for the benefit of the people, he suggested that Nigerians make it a point to pray for them at all times.
He was quoted as saying;
"Pray for us politicians that God should touch our hearts to use public funds for public good”.
